Home.

An unprocessed seven weeks have now come to an end. And life as been busy since being home. San Diego never felt so sweet and the first bite of a California Burrito was even sweeter.

Jeff is in Ireland working on a farm for the next 4 weeks. I’m writing from a hotel in Arizona en route to New Mexico where a group of point loma musicians and I will lead worship at a camp this coming week. Refreshing to be playing music again.

Backpacking through Europe a week after graduating was a crazy-incredible-intense way to expand my eyes and see anew.

Grateful for my travels and stoked to be… Home.

This is a journal entry while sitting at dinner last Sunday night, July 10th in London.

I’m going to walk down the street soon to Holy Trinity Brompton where Tim Hughes leads the 7pm service. Really looking forward to seeing his congregation and what the service is like.

I’ve been thinking how much of a whirlwind this trip has been spiritually. But could I ask for anything less when I dislodged myself from my comfortable surroundings, everyone I know, and plunge into a culture(s) that operate so vastly different than what I’ve ever known?

There have been a serious of questions I’ve asked on this trip that have left me asking even more questions but the more I ask, the more I fall in love with the life God has given me. The more I discover complexity, the more I want to be more like Jesus. The more people I meet who don’t want anything to do with the church, the more I want to be a voice for it. The more I sit in wonder, the more I love the mystery of faith.

If anything, this whirlwind of spiritual searching has left me thirsty, hopeful, and encouraged that God has me right where I should be: searching, expectant, and longing to be changed by the renewing of my heart and the transforming of my mind.

The world is a gift and I’m grateful to have opened a few pieces of the wrapping paper to look inside. To see, feel, and know more of what scripture tells us about receiving the inheritance of God in ways that have been often ordinary moments… where looking through the windows of a dark house, rays of light shine through the cracks. They remind me that Heaven is always crashing into earth when we respond to the gift we have received though faith.

Cheers!

Garrett
